Clear on purpose
The short version: share good things, vote honestly, and understand what a vote purchase delivers.
Score equals total upvotes minus total downvotes. Higher scores rank first. Equal scores are ordered chronologically, with the earlier entry first. Ratings never determine rank.
Websites and songs use normalized public links; submitting an equivalent link resolves to the existing entry rather than creating a duplicate. Opinions are original text posts organized by one selected topic.
Browsing and Website/Music submission do not require an account. Posting an Opinion, commenting, rating, using free credits, and earning referrals require an account. A legitimate new confirmed account receives exactly 3 free upvote credits once.
Every upvote adds 1 to score. A listing belongs to the public board, not to its first submitter. Any visitor may directly purchase upvotes for the same canonical listing.
Every downvote subtracts 1 from score. An account is currently required for paid downvotes, and an account cannot downvote a listing it is later authorized to manage.
Paid upvotes cost $1 each with no minimum. Paid downvotes cost $2 each with no minimum. Votes are applied only after payment is verified server-side. Reopening a return page cannot create duplicate votes.
Two legitimate new users who complete signup through your referral will earn you 1 free upvote credit. Clicks alone do not count. Duplicate or manipulated accounts are ineligible.
Opinions may be posted to All, Politics, Technology, Society, Economy, or Environment. The selected topic controls both the feed being viewed and the destination for a new opinion.
Opinions compete in one combined weekly ranking across all topics. The top 10 unique eligible creators share a pool equal to 10% of eligible Opinions revenue for that weekly period. One creator can hold only one winning position, using their best-performing eligible Opinion.
Anyone may read them. A signed-in account is required to post. Comments may be shown with the member profile or anonymously; the account association is retained privately for safety and moderation. Ratings are 1–5 stars and never determine rank.
Spam, automated voting, brigading, impersonation, malicious links, referral fraud, and payment manipulation are prohibited. Suspicious activity may be removed or reversed and listings may be moderated.
Opinions only
Weekly period. Each contest week runs from Monday at 12:00 AM through Sunday at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Technically, the accounting interval ends at the following Monday at 12:00 AM. Votes after that cutoff cannot change the closed week.
One combined competition. Politics, Technology, Society, Economy, Environment, and All are topic filters—not separate prize pools. Every eligible Opinion competes in one weekly Opinions ranking. Score equals eligible weekly upvotes minus eligible weekly downvotes; higher score ranks higher, and an equal score uses the Opinion's earlier creation time, then its stable record ID.
Unique creators. The system selects each creator's best-performing eligible Opinion, then continues down the ranking until up to 10 unique creators are chosen. A creator can receive only one winning position in a week.
Creator pool. The weekly pool is 10% of eligible revenue attributed to paid vote purchases fulfilled on Opinions during that period. It is not 10% of all company revenue. Eligible revenue excludes taxes, free credits, failed or cancelled payments, refunds, reversals, chargebacks, and unauthorized/fraudulent transactions. Stripe processing fees and other operating costs are platform expenses and are not deducted when calculating this pool.
Review. Results lock at the cutoff and enter a seven-day settlement, eligibility, and fraud review. Estimates are not guaranteed. Payouts are not instant and can be delayed where reasonably necessary for payment settlement, compliance, identity or tax verification, disputes, or fraud review.
Eligibility. A winning Opinion must retain an authenticated creator association, even if it appears publicly as Anonymous. Completely unclaimed or unverifiable content cannot be paid. Banned or suspended accounts, prohibited or illegal content, bots, fake/duplicate accounts, payment fraud, coordinated manipulation, chargeback-linked activity, and technical exploits may be excluded or disqualified. Ordinary disagreement or controversy alone is not a basis for disqualification.
Payout setup and taxes. Recipients may need to complete Stripe-hosted identity, bank, and tax-information collection in a supported jurisdiction. upvotes.lol does not provide tax advice; recipients remain responsible for their own tax obligations where applicable. Raw bank details are not collected or stored by upvotes.lol.
Corrections. The platform may correct obvious calculation, duplicate-payment, refund, reversal, ranking, or technical errors before payout. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived.
Payments & refunds
All purchases of upvotes and downvotes are final once the purchased votes have been successfully delivered and applied to the selected listing.
Refunds are generally not provided for changes of mind, dissatisfaction with a listing's later ranking, another user's votes or downvotes, or changes in leaderboard position after fulfillment.
We may provide a refund or correction when appropriate for duplicate charges, incorrect charges, technical errors, failure to deliver the purchased votes, unauthorized transactions, or when required by applicable law.
Purchasing votes does not guarantee that a listing will maintain any particular ranking or position. Rankings can change at any time as other users upvote or downvote listings.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable consumer-protection law.
